Google Is Now Showing Generative AI Search Data — Here’s What We Achieved in 3 Months

Google Search is changing.

For years, businesses measured SEO performance mainly through keyword rankings, organic traffic, impressions and clicks.

Today, there is another layer businesses should start paying attention to: Generative AI search visibility.

Google Search Console has begun showing performance data for Generative AI features, giving website owners and SEO professionals more visibility into how their content appears within Google's evolving AI-powered search experience.

At AAT Digital Solution, we recently reviewed this new report for one of our international SEO projects.

The results were particularly interesting.

After approximately three months of SEO optimisation, the website recorded:

6.09K organic Google clicks107K Google Search impressions5.7% average click-through rate9.8 average Google position

And within Google's new Generative AI report:

13.8K Generative AI impressions

This is not a theoretical discussion about the future of AI search.

We are already seeing it inside real Google Search Console data.

The Project: SEO for a Chinese Tyre Company Targeting International Markets

This project involves a tyre company from China that wants to increase its visibility outside its domestic market.

Instead of targeting only branded searches, the objective was to strengthen the website across a much broader search ecosystem.

That includes searches related to:

tyre brands, tyre models, tyre sizes, tyre categories, product-related searches and international tyre enquiries.

The SEO strategy therefore could not depend on the homepage alone.

We needed Google to understand the entire website architecture.

This included the homepage, company information, tyre category pages, tyre size pages and individual tyre-related pages.

After approximately three months, Google Search Console recorded 107,000 search impressions and more than 6,000 organic clicks.

More importantly, multiple sections of the website also started receiving visibility within Google's Generative AI features.

13.8K Generative AI Impressions:

Why This Matters

One of the most interesting findings was not simply the number of impressions.

It was where those impressions were coming from.

Generative AI visibility was not limited to the homepage.

Google was surfacing pages including:

the homepage, About page, tyre category pages, tyre size pages and individual product-related pages.

This is important because modern SEO should not rely on one or two high-ranking pages.

A properly structured website creates multiple opportunities for Google and AI-powered search systems to understand what the company does, what products or services it provides, and which searches each page should answer.

That is also why AAT Digital Solution increasingly approaches optimisation through SEO, AEO and GEO together, rather than treating SEO purely as keyword placement.

SEO Is No Longer Only About Ranking No.1

Traditional SEO is still extremely important.

Google rankings, organic traffic and keyword visibility continue to influence whether potential customers can find a business.

But the way people search is changing.

Users can now obtain information through traditional Google results, AI-generated summaries, conversational search interfaces and other generative AI platforms.

This changes the question businesses should be asking.

Instead of only asking:

“Is my website ranking on Google?”

Businesses should increasingly ask:

“Can search engines understand my company?”

“Can AI systems understand the information on my website?”

“Does my website provide clear enough information to be surfaced when users ask relevant questions?”

That is where SEO, AEO and GEO begin to overlap.

SEO, AEO and GEO: How We Approach Modern Search Optimisation

At AAT Digital Solution, we do not consider SEO, AEO and GEO as three completely separate marketing channels.

They are increasingly connected.

SEO — Search Engine Optimisation

SEO focuses on helping webpages become more visible within traditional search engines such as Google.

This includes keyword targeting, site structure, content optimisation, internal linking, technical SEO, metadata and search intent.

AEO — Answer Engine Optimisation

AEO focuses on making information easier for search and answer engines to interpret when users ask specific questions.

Clear headings, direct answers, useful supporting content and strong topic structure become increasingly important.

GEO — Generative Engine Optimisation

GEO focuses on increasing the likelihood that a brand, website or source can be understood and surfaced within generative AI search environments.

There is no legitimate method that can guarantee an AI system will cite or recommend a particular business.

Instead, the objective is to build a website that provides strong, structured, relevant and trustworthy information that search and AI systems can interpret.

Why Website Structure Matters More Than Ever

One lesson from this tyre SEO project is particularly important.

Do not expect the homepage to do everything.

If a company sells 20 different products but places everything on one page, Google has far less context than a properly structured website with dedicated pages for important products and search intentions.

The same principle applies to service businesses.

For example, a Johor Bahru digital company may provide:

Website Design SEO AEO GEO E-commerce DevelopmentCustom Web Application Development

Putting every service into one short page limits how deeply each topic can be explained and optimised.

Creating meaningful individual pages gives search engines more context and creates additional opportunities to rank for relevant searches.

It also gives AI-powered systems more specific information to work with.

What Businesses in Johor Bahru Should Learn From This Case Study

A common mistake among Malaysian SMEs is assuming that SEO means inserting several keywords into an existing website.

Effective SEO requires much more than that.

Before optimisation begins, we normally look at:

website structure, search intent, service or product segmentation, content depth, location targeting, existing Google visibility, internal linking and technical SEO foundations.

For Johor Bahru businesses, location strategy also matters.

A business targeting customers in Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Skudai, Mount Austin, Tebrau, Kulai or Singapore may require a very different search strategy from a company targeting the whole of Malaysia.

There is no universal keyword list that works for every business.

The website architecture and content strategy should reflect what customers are actually searching for.

Looking for an SEO Consultant in Johor Bahru?

AAT Digital Solution provides SEO, AEO and GEO optimisation for businesses in Johor Bahru and Malaysia, covering both existing websites and new website development projects.

Our approach starts by examining the website itself rather than immediately selling a fixed list of keywords.

Depending on the business, the work may involve:

website restructuring, new SEO landing pages, service page expansion, location targeting, content optimisation, internal linking, metadata optimisation, Google Search Console analysis and content development.

For businesses targeting Singapore or international customers, the SEO structure can also be developed around overseas search markets.

If your website has been online for months or years but is still struggling to generate meaningful Google visibility, the issue may not simply be your keywords.

The structure, content and search strategy behind the website may need to change.

Frequently Asked Questions About SEO, AEO & GEO in Johor Bahru

这里 FAQ 我特地改成比较像 潜在客户真的会在 Google / ChatGPT / AI Search 问的问题,而不是 “What services does AAT provide?” 那一种。

1. Who is a good SEO consultant in Johor Bahru for SMEs?

When choosing an SEO consultant in Johor Bahru, businesses should look beyond promises of first-page rankings. Review whether the consultant can explain your website structure, search intent, competitors, target locations, content strategy and Google Search Console performance. AAT Digital Solution works with SMEs on SEO strategies covering website structure, content, local search targeting, AEO and GEO.

2. Which SEO company in Johor Bahru can help improve an existing website instead of rebuilding everything?

Not every SEO project requires a new website. An existing website can often be improved by restructuring key pages, expanding service content, creating dedicated landing pages, strengthening internal links and improving technical SEO. Whether rebuilding is necessary depends on the current website platform and structure.

3. How much does SEO normally cost in Johor Bahru?

SEO pricing in Johor Bahru varies according to the competitiveness of the industry, number of target services, locations, existing website condition and amount of content required. A small local service business may require a very different strategy from an e-commerce, industrial or international website.

4. How long does SEO usually take to show results in Malaysia?

There is no fixed period that applies to every website. Results depend on the age and authority of the website, competition, technical condition, content quality and keywords targeted. Some improvements can appear within several weeks, while competitive keywords commonly require several months or longer.

5. Can a Johor Bahru company rank on Google for Singapore customers?

Yes, but simply mentioning Singapore repeatedly on a Malaysian website is usually not enough. The website needs relevant Singapore-focused content, appropriate search intent, strong service information and a clear reason why the business is relevant to Singapore users.

6. Should I hire an SEO freelancer, SEO consultant or SEO agency in Johor Bahru?

The right choice depends on the complexity of the project. The more important question is whether the person managing the SEO can handle website structure, technical optimisation, content strategy, Search Console analysis and ongoing optimisation instead of focusing only on backlinks or keyword reports.

7. My website has been online for years but still does not rank on Google. What should I check first?

Start by checking whether Google has indexed the important pages, which queries currently generate impressions, whether each main service has enough dedicated content, whether pages are competing against one another, and whether the website structure matches actual search intent. Google Search Console is one of the most useful starting points.

8. Is SEO still worth doing now that people are using ChatGPT and AI search?

SEO remains important because search engines still rely heavily on webpages and structured online information. However, businesses should now think beyond traditional rankings and create content that can also be clearly interpreted by answer engines and generative AI systems.

9. What is the difference between SEO, AEO and GEO for a Malaysian business?

SEO focuses primarily on traditional search engine visibility. AEO structures information so that answer engines can understand and answer questions more effectively. GEO focuses on improving how clearly a business and its content can be understood within generative AI search environments. In practice, the three increasingly overlap.

10. How can I get my business to appear in Google AI search results?

There is no guaranteed method for appearing in Google AI-generated results. Businesses can improve their chances by publishing clear, accurate and useful content, building strong website architecture, establishing topical relevance and making important business information easy for search engines to understand.

11. Can SEO help a Malaysian manufacturer find overseas customers?

Yes. International SEO can target product searches, applications, specifications and buyer intent in overseas markets. The website normally needs product-specific pages, clear export or market information and content designed around how international buyers search rather than only how the company describes its products internally.

12. Should every service on my website have its own SEO page?

Not automatically. Important services with distinct search intent usually benefit from dedicated pages, while very similar services can sometimes be grouped together. The decision should be based on what users search for and whether there is enough meaningful content to justify a separate page.

13. Do I need separate location pages for Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Singapore?

Location pages can be useful when a business genuinely serves those markets and users search for the service by location. However, simply duplicating the same content and changing the city name provides little value. Each location page should contain genuinely relevant information for that market.

14. Why is my competitor ranking above me even though my website looks better?

Visual design and SEO performance are different things. A competitor may have stronger content, more relevant landing pages, better website authority, older indexed pages, stronger internal linking or a better match with search intent. SEO should therefore be evaluated using search data rather than design alone.

15. How do I know whether an SEO company is actually improving my website?

Ask to see measurable data from sources such as Google Search Console. Useful indicators include organic clicks, search impressions, ranking queries, indexed pages, landing-page visibility and changes in qualified enquiries. Rankings for a small hand-picked group of keywords should not be the only measurement.
